Sweet link to The Green

http://www.sltrib.com/features/ci_14702555

This link really fires me up to get out to the Green, before the summer crowds hit. I agree 100% that the toughest thing about the Green is to balance out focusing on your fly with focusing on the breath-taking scenery in all directions as you float down the canyon toward Little Hole. Kevin, let's hit the Green on 3/30-3/31. What do you say?

  1. I say bring it! This time, please don't forget to pay for the gas.

Last Green trip we were so excited as we purchased flies and gas at the local store (just before the descent to the river)that we forgot to pay for gas!! ON top of that, I spun the wheels on mom's subaru as we left the parking lot leaving in a cloud of dust, gravel and ROAR! This added to the appearance of us bad guys.

8 hours later we arrived back to our car after a day of fishing- and there were two sheriff vehicles parked next to us waiting (I thought I was busted for sure because I also had not purchased a license to fish this day- another bonehead move). As the officer approached I asked her if she wanted to see my fishing license. Ultimately it was revealed what we had done- each of us thought the other had paid for gas!! With a police escort, we made it back to the station and pleaded our case before a very angry gas station owner. We were throwing out every reason why they should have mercy on us- we love the outdoors, we are eagle scouts, we know Matt Brown (he was a Green River guide at the time), etc. We even feigned a fight between brothers to show how serious we were (verbal spat really). After all this we paid and were set free. And I haven't even talked about the fishing that day!!

Hey maybe Jon Mecham can share the story of ranger Roy and driving the truck into the Green. What a memory!!

  2. I hope that dropping my name was ultimately the reason that you were released. I'm pretty sure it was. ;). They were probably like, "Who? Did you just make that name up? That sounds made up."

  3. We're heading up to Section A at the end of this month. We need a boat and a guide. Know of anyone who fits the bill? Do you still have your boat or access to one? I could be your shuttle boy...

  4. I don't have my boat still, but I would look up Spinner Fall (http://www.spinnerfall.com) and I would recommend Brett Carlson or Dudley. I have fished a few times with Brett and have had some great days. I heard Dudley is also really good.
